Mileage to the road is longer than the road itself

I noticed this on my trip to Florida recently...

On I-75 NB in Florida there are several places identifying how far it is to I-275 and I-4.  The furthest one is near the west end of Alligator Alley - https://eopf.nbc.gov/hhs/ - 129 miles to I-275 and 162 miles to I-4.

These distances are longer than the roads themselves...I-275 is 59 miles long and I-4 is 132 miles long.

So...  In the U.S., is I-4 the longest road that is exceeded in a reference distance?

And...  I-275 will not be the shortest road that has this happen, but what is the largest gap found that meets this criteria.  I-275 is the current leader at 129 - 59 = 70

SB I-75 has them too.  I believe around Lake City you start seeing I-275 signs and progresses southward.  Though I cannot recall the exact mileages on each of them it is very safe to say that Lake City is, of course, more than 59 miles from the split of I-75 and I-275.

Edit: I just checked the maps out, and it seems anything north of Wildwood (FL TPK) would have I-275 at longer than the road itself.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

So I found this based on your post - http://goo.gl/maps/SoKYu - located a little south of I-10.

So I-275 is still the leader with the biggest difference but it is now 157 - 59 = 98

I-190 is mentioned fairly far out in Illinois.  The entire interstate is 2 miles, yet there are signs 5 miles out on I-294.

Examples:
5 miles: https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=42.06141,-87.867897&spn=0.004628,0.010568&t=h&z=17&layer=c&cbll=42.06141,-87.867897&panoid=gh6g8hH_8O621p25ayeX4Q&cbp=12,175.74,,1,-8.36

5-2 may only be 3, but that's 3/2 = 150% further than the interstate is long!

Since it is only part of US 13, I won't count this in your calculations.  But...after one crosses the Delaware Memorial Bridge, there's a mileage sign for the Chesapeake Bridge/Tunnel.  It is 205 miles away.  The Bridge/Tunnel is about 23 miles in length.

New Hampshire, on I-93, likes to put "TO 293", "TO 89", and "TO 393". 393 is only 4 miles  long. I'm not sure how far away 393 is signed, though.

VT 26 is 69 feet long. The advance junction sign is, let's say 500 feet in advance. That's a factor of 7.25 times the length of the route!

Do variable message signs count?

Brevard County Road 5A is about 1.0-1.2 miles long, but it's shown as 12 miles away from Exit 244 (FL 442), southbound on I-95.

Admittedly, that's a really obscure one...it's just a spur to US 1.

Italy: 48 miles to A28, which is only 30 miles long. And even funnier is that A28 is closer by 10 miles via A27 than all the way on A4. A23 is a close one, 70 miles for a 75 mile long motorway. Now that A34 is completed I bet they have signed it in the same sign, there is far more distance to the A34 interchange than A34 itself.
Supporter of the construction of several running gags, including I-366 with a speed limit of 85 mph (137 km/h) and the Hypotenuse.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

Where's this sign at?  I don't recall seeing it in my travels.  I've seen CBBT trailblazers on the NJ Turnpike, but not a distance sign.

Also, this is an even more extreme example with a ratio over 10:1, as CBBT is about 20 miles toll booth-to-toll booth.

Going south, after you cross the Del Mem Bridge, between the exits for Rt. 9 & US 13/40.

I-278 gets a 2 mile advance marker from the NJ turnpike. The road itself is only 2 miles long inside the state. Not sure if that counts though, since it does continue into another state

I was out west in December and passed this mileage sign on Washington State Route 14 (on the north bank of the Columbia River) eastbound, just to the east of Stevenson, WA.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Wenatchee,+WA/@45.698742,-121.873893,3a,75y,134.82h,90t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sLVLCeEIHk_8G-8f9tJQSSA!2e0!4m2!3m1!1s0x549bcc43dd054f43:0x746e63024633d190

136 miles to the junction with Interstate 82 (which is a combined 143.6 miles in length over Oregon & Washington --- 132.6 miles in Washington alone).

At the previous mileage sign to the west of this, Kennewick is again mentioned (182 miles on that sign) but the Interstate 82 junction is not (if it were, it would be 164 miles).

Doesn't count, but it's close (I-84 exceeds I-4 in length).

Found a photo I took of the sign back in 2009 while I was looking for another photo that I couldn't find.
