While the others stayed on the beach at the "Breezes Resort"  in Varadero.......there was plenty of time for a trip into Havana to check out those classic cars from the "˜50s......Here's a few pictures:

Great pictures. I'd like to get down there before American money returns and changes it. That's not to say the place is perfect now, of course, but it's bound to change in a host of ways. Sort of like how the Outer Banks were, in my view, ruined once they were "discovered."

Beautiful cars.

—Olaf Kolzig, as quoted in the Washington Times on March 28, 2003,
commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
—Kolzig, to the same reporter a few seconds later.

Beaches are clean and uncrowded.....and the resort hotels are just as new as you would find in any other Caribbean country. Meals were OK but lack variety due in part to the embargo........but produce and local items are excellent including beer and the rum!!! :sombrero:

There is little or no crime and a small town such as Varadero is very walkable (something I just wouldn't do when we were in Mexico) But to really see the history and culture you just have to go into Havana for a day.
