Twenty-some years ago, I was in one of those extended family everybody-draw-names unSecret Santa wish list gift exchanges. I drew an in-law I had never met and on his wish list was a wallet. I bought him a wallet I liked, but it cost barely half of the gift limit amount, so I filled in the rest with lottery tickets. TX lottery "Stocking Stuffers." I bought twenty $1 tickets and gave the wallet with the scratch-offs inside. Everybody initially thought it was fun, but the guy keep scratching - not a single ticket paid.

I don't know that anyone in my family has bought any lottery tickets since.
