Following hikers on the Appalachian and the Pacific Crest Trails

Back in my teens, while using Google Earth I discovered there is a trail running all the way from Georgia to Maine called the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Soon afterwards I found another trail in the other coast, running from Mexico to Canada, the Pacific Crest Trail. Recently I've started to search videos about thru-hikers of both trails, those who complete them in one shot, which is quite a feat (The AT is almost 2200 miles long, while the PCT is over 2600. The figures are even more impresive in kilometers: 3500 and 4300 respectively). Now that we are in March, thru-hiking of the AT has begun (some as early as mid February!), and I started to follow some hikers that are posting videos to YouTube every few days. I like how the AT ends, with a 100 mile section through the middle of nowhere (The appropiately named 100 Mile Wilderness) before the final climb to Mount Katahdin. I plan to do the same with the PCT starting April. I find this trail more challengening, as the Sierras don't allow an early start and the Northern Cascades discourage a late arrival, so schedules are more tight.

Is there any one doing the same? This is the most traditional form of going from one place to another, ever since we have existed.
