Every Altoona needs a congressionally legislated Interstate.

That term is currently suffering from a state of overuse and presents over expectations.

That argument hasn't worked in Florida.

I saw a quote that Des Moines was the largest city 'without an interstate ring', although it kinda does with 35/80 and 235. I agree that it would probably better to give the whole freeway a unified state route number. I don't see the routing providing much of a time benefit over the existing interstates for thru traffic.

A crazy thought might be to swap I-235 and 35/80 and then make I-235 a full beltway using IA 5 and US 65.

They must have meant 'largest city in Iowa'.  :-D

I'm also trying to find the Interstate ring in Fresno.

How long before we see Interstate 435 signs in the Des Moines area? I expect it will be a minimum of 10 years before we see Iowa's Interstate 435 come into fruition.

I didn't realize the Fresno metro area was so geographically large.

Well, yes, it's a mountainous area.

Is that loop used primarily by Fresno area commuters, or by long-distance drivers wishing to avoid downtown traffic?
