Many years ago, US 101 was routed along Trabuco Road in Orange County, CA.  When they built the Marine Corps base (MCAS El Toro), originally, they had a traffic light to control the intersection of cars on Trubuco and the airplanes ready to take off.  Of course, they eventually built a bypass and US 101 is now I-5, routed around the base.  The base is no longer operational, and it will eventually become Orange County Great Park.  There doesn't seem to be any plans to reconnect Trabuco Road.

Eutaw St. is no longer open in in front of Camden Yards because of the baseball stadium.

When the original World Trade Center was built in New York City, I understand that several square blocks were taken for the plaza.  This area was formerly known as "Radio Row", apparently for all the TV/radio stores in the area (correct me if I'm wrong).  Ironically, one of the original roads is being restored for the new WTC -- Greenwich St., I think -- but I'm not sure if that will be open to all traffic or just to official/emergency vehicles.

Both Greenwich Street and Fulton Street will run through the site as they once did, although I'd be shocked if both did not remain closed to motor vehicles.
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

A great site to find out more about the changes in street layout in NYC because of development is Forgotten-NY, especially the street "necrology" category.
