The oldest signals I've seen in New Jersey, most of them are old green signals manufactured by Marbelite, like most NJ signals these are mounted on truss arms:

I can't find a picture, but I've found some pretty ancient art decos in Ocean and Atlantic City, matter a fact these are so old that they've  lost there color, they were originally green but then got a yellow repaint, and then the paint flaked and exposed the silver cast aluminum of the signals.

Aside from Marbelite, Econolite, G.E., and Eagle were also common for many years throughout the Garden State. The ones in your picture from Trenton are Eagle "Flatback" heads.

I was for sure they were Marbelite flattops but I took a closer look and it appears they are Eagle flatbacks.

The back of a Marbelite signal is not necessarily flat, but has a unique design similar to the former aluminum LFE/Automatic Signal head. The cast itself originates to the days of Horni (late 1930s) and was in use until several years ago by General Traffic Equipment for its 1st generation aluminum vehicular head.

At the intersection shown in the Wiki photo, there used to be a 2 head light facing the former firehouse to the right; normally red, but would flash yellow when activated by the fire department.

One intersection up from that light also has these old signals.  Not too long ago the entire pole and assembly was knocked over in an accident.  The super-speedy (ha) Trenton Public Works department took nearly 3 months to replace it, but used a modern signal assembly.
