You can usually rely on Far West Texas to be pretty competitive in the long-distance-mileage department. Case in point, this sign on Texas 118 just south of Fort Davis:

and US 385 in Fort Stockton:

What is the longest distance to a park from any road? I have this:

And to answer the inevitable question, yes the design of the sign is a little off. That's because it's not an MTO sign, but an advertising one. It, along with others to other tourist destinations like Niagara Falls, were erected in 2003 in the wake of the SARS scare that hurt the province's tourism industry.
and waterrrrrrr!

I actually didn't know that. I'm not that sharp when it comes to who erected the sign   ;-)

If it was in another font, or had rounded borders/different arrows/wrong 409 shield etc I would have noticed.

The 409 crown outline is green instead of black, though a more typical sign would not have had the white portion and therefore would have just been the white crown silhouette on green. And the "Via" would likely be all lower-case.

Plus, there's the matter that MTO doesn't sign for provincial parks.  :)

But yeah, it is deliberately designed to look like a standard guide sign.

Here is something from the east coast:

Cape Hatteras Nat'l Seashore - 148 miles (US 64 EB leaving I-95)

Cape Lookout Nat'l Seashore - 136 miles (US 70 EB leaving I-95)

Another worthy – and unique – entry from Far West Texas. This is a pretty standard example of how TxDOT provides distance signage to Carlsbad Caverns National Park (and Carlsbad) on US 62-180.

Not as far as some of the examples above, but it is a considerable distance from I-79 near Weston, W.Va. to Blackwater Falls State Park and  Canaan Valley Resort State Park, as can be seen on this sign on the southbound side.
