Early data shows Tesla's autopilot mode cuts accidents by 50%

The data is still new, but it looks like Tesla's self driving autopilot mode reduces accidents by 50% given similar road conditions. Safety is one of the best arguments for self driving cars and even with the technology being brand new it's looking like it's saving lives.

I know this is an unpopular opinion here but I wanted to share.

I know I'm very much in the minority here, but I think self-driving cars are the future. I'm not a fan of driving myself, and if Tesla can make a cheaper, more reliable (in terms of range) I'd buy one. They're sleek looking vehicles   :)

As far as I understand, this is not about fully autonomous driving, this is about computer looking out for possible accidents while on the highway. Which is, beyond any doubt, an extra layer of protection for the vehicle.
