We got similar ramp meters in the Phoenix area where they alternate the green for each lane, but in California, both lanes get the green at the same time (a dumb way of doing it), so you get two motorists jockeying to get ahead of each other before the ramp narrows to one lane on its final approach to the freeway. :pan:
