Widening I-26 throughout most of the state is currently the higher priority than I-95, as it connects SC's three largest metros.  They just started addressing the worst part of I-95 traffic-wise (from GA to US 17 towards Charleston), but I-26 has more urgent needs between Columbia and Charleston.

For the summer tourist season, I think a freeway is warranted from I-95 to SC 22 and could be built as I-195 in the short term (or if South Carolina decided to cancel I-73). Currently, I think the issue with SC 22 is that it swings too far north to siphon traffic away from US 501 and Conway. I haven't heard of much interest outside of Horry County for I-73 so there's not an incentive from the state to push for it.

This discussion belongs in the Interstate 73/74 forum. FWIW there's no confidence anywhere that South Carolina will build any part of I-73.

Yes, I said I-95 is a higher priority than I-73. I-26 is a separate discussion.

Might be a separate discussion, but unfortunately it's not separate SCDOT funds.
