Why is spell check adding “a” before proper names?

Lately as I type proper names like Turnpike or Parkway or even Biden the spell check adds the word "a"  before it to read like this: "a Turnpike"   after typing "Turnpike"  or a John Smith"  for John Smith.

What is up with inserting bad grammar like this?

Automatically correcting this (as opposed to just marking something as incorrect) is not the default feature of anything. Maybe uninstall what you have?

In the case of "Turnpike", you do need something such as the New Jersey Turnpike or Florida's Turnpike, but it really shouldn't be doing it with names.

Bad spell check will actually probably make things worse if you're trying to avoid being ridiculed. Remember typing Salmon instead of Selmon regarding the toll road in Tampa? The spell check program will probably "correct" it to the incorrect one even if you type it correctly.

My iPhone and iPad sometimes do that at random too. For example, if I shoot my wife a message to remind her to call her brother, it might randomly change "Don't forget to call Tom" to "Don't forget to call a Tom," and it's not at all apparent why it does or doesn't do this sort of thing at any given time.

I've never had it happen. Maybe it happens when you press the a key instead of the shift key, backspace, then press shift?
