I figured it'd be a good idea to take things over to the Mathews Bridge.

Ask away.

Since he/she's offline and I used to live there as well, I can say that they're really popular.  Obviously when they do better, even more so, but Jacksonville is still a huge college sports town with UF, FSU, and UGA all having pretty strong contingents.  That's why the Urban Meyer hire and possible Tebow signing were so popular since there's so many Gator fans there.

How do you deal with the heat and humidity? Do you just get used to it? What about mosquitoes?

The mosquitoes are unfortunately annoying but I've already gotten used to them...I also had to deal with them up north but that's best for another thread here. The heat, I will say that some AC units are better than others, and our house didn't get the best one we could've had. Ceiling fans are a must.

People in Jacksonville were not nearly as in love with Blake Bortles.

The Jaguars are important...but it seems like we could've been alright without them due to the lack of success in some areas of the game. More importantly, we are a college sports town. FL/GA game gave us one of our TV stations. Unfortunately, there have been threats of moving the game from the Gator Bowl downtown to playing it on either college campus. This did happen temporarily when they built the current stadium downtown.

I'll note that we used to be a spring training destination up until about a century ago. Then we became a minor-league baseball town.

I've never liked Blake Bortles either...what's the big deal.

I haven't watched a ton of The Good Place, but my wife did.  One of the characters is from Jax and loves the Jags and Bortles and thinks he's the best QB ever.  He's also the sweet idiot in the show.  (Just for some clarity for you.)

Not the only time a show made fun of the Jags' QB situation. More recently, the Simpsons stopped at a motel on Philips Highway (US 1) and made a joke or two about the situation.

I'm sure they do...the longer they've lived here, the more they (probably) do. All it takes is a quick search. Of course, this wasn't easy before the Internet.

It's okay...understandable due to being up or down the coast from each other.

It's definitely more southern here, but the accent isn't that typical one you hear of every now and then.
