I agree that road diets designed to develop a "complete street" is a waste, but my experience in Kentucky is that road diets are not used for that. Instead, they're designed to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents. Typically here, a four-lane undivided road with no turn lanes will be restriped to provide two through lanes with a center turn lane. This reduces congestion and cuts down on the number of rear-end collisions.
Depending on the highway, I would not necessarily call it a Road  Diet.

I have seen cases where a four-lane undivided road with narrow lanes was restriped to provide two 12-foot through lanes with a center turn lane. I would not call that a Road Diet.

Kentucky typically uses the term "road diet" for such configurations/restripings. Virginia's mileage may vary, however.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

Road Diet is my name -- and a common term for reducing capacity on a road -- I don't know if the state has an official term.

"Road diet" is the actual term for those reconfigurations.

Chesterfield County and the City of Richmond have been on a rash of road diet projects in recent years. Some of them have been on rather insignificant roads such as SR 5400/Polo Parkway, but more and more of them have been happening on major collectors and arterials such as Warwick Road (as @Beltway mentioned), Brookland Park Boulevard, VA 197/Malvern Avenue, and - very frustratingly - SR 650/Turner Road between US 360 and US 60. That latter road diet has made Turner Road a traffic nightmare along that stretch since it's a fairly heavily used connecting route.

Why are they so stupid? They may be justified in a few cases, but their brains must be on vacation when they Road Diet/Anorexia/Bulimia arterials like Turner Road, Warwick Road, and Brookland Park Boulevard.

Bicycles very rarely use those roads, and the areas they are in are not dense enough to support much non-motorized transport.

Besides, cycling advocacy groups don't support bike lanes -- they create other problems like the "right hook" -- they believe that the safest place for the bicycle is on the road lanes themselves.

Richmond said no to signing VA 315 because, like VA 399, they don't maintain the access road to the VMFA and they suggested I contact the museum instead.

I've yet to be able to get out to VA 410 to see if it got posted, but it seems like this is about as far as we're going to get, unless you want to try and shoot for the moon and get US 460 correctly signed from I-95.

Yeah, other than some minor changes, I've kind of hit a snag in terms of getting signage corrected. The only thing that I've been able to confirm is that an "EAST I-195" shield at VA 147 and I-195/VA 76 was corrected to "SOUTH I-195" and some VA 6 shields have popped up along Patterson Ave, but not at where VA 6 transitions onto Kensington Ave.

Chesterfield County never corrected that Chatsworth Ave street name sign, I'll probably reach out again and see if we can't get a VA 324 on there.

I'm getting a bit irritated with certain jurisdictions lately...

Got a response from Chesterfield about some erroneous street name signs. The county is in the middle of refreshing street name signs across the county and VA 324/Chatsworth Avenue will get a new one with the correct number later this year.

Google Street View has updated in most of Alexandria and none of my signage requests were posted as of late April. I'm giving up on them as I'm pretty sure they sent me the message saying they'd put up signs just to shut me up.

GSV updated some areas of Prince William County and despite what the VDOT engineer told me way back, VA 394 is not posted at Northern Virginia Community College's Woodbridge campus.

I have some pictures of new Richmond signs but Tapatalk (which I use to post pics on forums) is acting like a little bitch right now. Is there another app (mobile) I can use?

I'm pretty sure one of the moderators said they disabled the Tapatalk plug-in due to a compatibility issue after a software update, though I don't remember the details and a search didn't find the comment.

You may need to use a service like Postimages to do it.

Alright, let's try this thing.

N. Harrison St NB at US 250. This is a weird one

Entrance to Lee Bridge from S. 2nd St

US 1/301 SB at US 60. Yep it's crooked like the NB one.

US 60 WB at the same intersection

US 1/301 SB at US 360 and US 60 TRUCK. Why the yellow banner???

DPW has marked my request for an END sign for US 250 as "under review". If that sign goes up, then all of this randomness will have been worth it since that's the thing that got me to bugging them about signs over 20 years ago.

I couldn't check that day as north of Broad was blocked by the police because of graduations.
