We got a political thread along with one about aliens the last twenty four hours.  Conversely there has been a shocking lack of ghost related content over the same timeframe.

Supposedly I'm hiding DVR footage of a ghost at work.  Said ghost apparently is an old store manager which for some reason haunts a uniform shop that wasn't under his area of responsibility.  Speculation is abound about why said ghost haunts the uniform shop and why I feel to need to hide evidence of the afterlife from the masses.

Well? Why do you feel the need to hide evidence of the afterlife from the masses?

It could be that the truth is too mundane for people to accept.

Or is it?  I've also been accused of hiding evidence of the time traveler.

This is more like a Time Cop situation.  Dude was at the gas pumps one day and fell into his future self if you believe the video.  Couldn't have been mind rewinding the video too much and creating an image artifact.

It isn't an afterlife, it's just people living their lives in their own times (past or future).  They may be seeing you and assuming it's someone from the past wandering around in a different state.  Sometimes one moment bleeds through a little to a different one.  This happens because time isn't spread out the way we think it is.  I'd compare it to a puzzle that can be put together different ways.  Each arrangement is like a different moment in time, and one doesn't replace another, but they all exist as potential states, both simultaneously and eternally.
I'd like to buy a vowel, Alex.  What is E?

I mean, I am from 1990 and Oklahoma, and I'm wandering around Nevada in 2025. So yeah, I guess I'm someone from the past wandering around in a different state...

It's remarkably easy to sound like an expert on matters that cannot be proven.

That makes me wonder, could the changing of the clocks in regards to DST (or crossing time-zone boundaries, for that matter) be counted as an instance of time travel, albeit not in the traditionally-thought of fashion? :spin:

(Note, this is also not an invitation to debate DST itself.)
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

When I worked graveyards at the casino I would often refer to the moment of the DST change as "time travel" and everyone understood what I meant, so...

I was watching Gremlins the other day.  The Mogwai disabled one of the clocks to fool Billy into feeding them after midnight.  When does the post-midnight food eating transformation period end?  Also, do Mogwai operate on DST?

My freshman year of college I was convinced I saw a ghost open a bathroom door. The thing swung wide open with impressive force, with no one else around, and no windows open since it was February in Minnesota. Confirmation bias was running wild since it was in the basement of a 100+ year old building with marble floors and wood trim and all that. I looked around for at least 5 minutes trying to figure out what could have possibly happened.

Only when I returned months later did I find the motion sensors that, well, opened the door. But it was a fun couple months of 100% believing in the paranormal.

Dude.  See Gremlins 2 for a great scene about that.

I was watching it the other day but only got 40 minutes in before I had to go somewhere.  It has been so long since I've seen Gremlins 2 that I don't remember what happens.

It's fun to think about.  I don't know that expertise is the goal.  I like playing with ideas and finding unknown uses.  If you actually know what you're doing, that takes the fun out of it.  As an example, I enjoy automotive work, but what I enjoy most is the diagnosis.  I know the principles of how the parts work, but when there's a problem I don't know what the answer is.  The best part is looking at the information, applying understanding from study and experience to figure out what information is relevant, and zeroing in on a diagnosis and repair.  When I have no automotive problems, I imagine them and try to figure out what could cause them.  This isn't a direct example, because in this case there is a correct answer.  It's even more fun when there is no correct answer and you can come up with a different one the next day.  To me, philosophy isn't about finding answers, it's about playing with ideas and learning how to use them to find answers in different ways.  Occasionally you might find something that's actually worthwhile, but to me the pursuit has the most meaning, because that's the direction in which the possibilities lie.
