Here is a building collapse in Bangkok and it's tied to the quake.

I can only imagine all those New Yorkers with PTSD flashing back to 9/11 when they saw that building collapse.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

Myanmar quake death toll nears 700 as international aid starts to arrive - https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/myanmar-quake-death-toll-nears-700-international-aid-starts-arrive-2025-03-29/

Currently there is a death toll at 700 but there's an undercount given that Myanmar has an ongoing rescue operation in the country and who knows how many more buildings have collapsed the same way as the one seen in Bangkok.

Makes me wonder if USAID will be able to help.

There is no telling what the final death toll may be from this earthquake. The military dictatorship in Myanmar complicates the situation pretty severely. It will hinder aid from foreign nations and just make it difficult to truthfully assess the damage and loss of life.

One of the many upper floor pools that the quake caused to pour over the sides.

I wonder if that building owner of the one that collapsed in Bangkok will be cited.

It looks to me corners were cut to build it as many other buildings swayed but stayed standing and this one imitated 9/11 to the tee.

As far as I understand, it was in the process of being built. I can see why it could be less stable in that condition than it would be once completed.
