Might as well start a thread for the blizzard that will hit the Northeast the week of February 22, 2026.

Just rain here so far (all day).

Edited to add: And the snow started about 10 minutes after I typed that. Looks like big, wet flakes. Heavy stuff if it sticks and if you have to shovel it.

The snow started here a little over a half hour ago *(3:45 pm Eastern).  It's nice and heavy, and starting to stick to the ground, roofs, etc.  The streets are too wet for it to stick there yet.

I took the recycling out at around 8:30 and it's sticking, but it's a slushy mess.

American Airlines already canceled my flight to Manchester, New Hampshire at 6:30 this morning...twenty-four hours in advance. That's a new record for me, but the drawback was waiting on the phone for 90 minutes for cancellation between telling the area implementation manager if we should push it off for a week. Yet I appreciate not waiting around in an airport all day tomorrow...so I'll take the minor inconvenience.

They can still send me somewhere else in the country and make me eat my words all over again.

I'm astounded. Here in Ravenswood, we have received between 1 and 1/8 inch of snow, possibly more, and school has been canceled. Oh, well.

That turned out to be a nuisance snow here. Just enough that I needed to clear it from the driveway because I have to take my wife to a medical appointment this afternoon. Otherwise, I'd have let it melt on its own.

We got about eight inches here.  Some forecasts were saying 12-18" but the storm shifted east.

That's not what she said.

No matter how redundant it may be, I always add "of snow".

I was in the 4-8'' band in the forecast.  Officially, i got 4'', but I'm pretty sure I only brushed off 1-2'' off the car this morning.  The commute was eerie, however, as even just driving a couple of miles down the Northway was enough for the roads to go from wet to covered with a thin layer of slush.  And I checked the traffic cameras 30-45 minutes before I left for work, so I don't think that was just luck of the draw with where the plows were.  The gradient was that steep.

I think the only travel impact I had, other than brushing the car off, was that OGS hadn't salted the parking lot at work, resulting in many employees falling on their way into the office (fortunately, I noticed in time to employ my skills walking on slippery surfaces from years walking to school in Rochester winters).

I would have to say Sunday was one of the most disappointing days of weather I can remember. Woke up to a fresh dusting of snow, but it warmed up just enough to melt the dusting while continuing to snow all day. But with temperatures hovering above freezing, almost none of the snow stuck until well after nightfall. By Monday morning, we had less than an inch of new snow.

I just find it odd that the cold air feeding the noreaster must have somehow gotten *colder* as it headed south. Or perhaps the moderating influence of Lake Ontario is to blame for the slightly warmer temperatures we had.

We got another inch or so of lake effect snow last night and temps subsequently dropped into the teens, but with all the blowing and drifting, it was barely enough to cover the bare patches of grass that had started to emerge. Even so, most areas that are protected from the wind still have at least 3-6 inches of snowpack, so with another clipper system forecasted to move through tonight, it seems likely that we'll make it through February with snow on the ground the entire month.

I spoke with a guy from New Jersey (Philly area) yesterday and he said they got about 18 inches. I wondered if he was just ever so slightly offended when I responded nonchalantly with "Not bad!".

Here in northeastern Massachusetts, everything except schools was back to normal yesterday, and schools are back today.

Cape Cod and some of the South Shore is still without power. Updates every 15 minutes: http://mema.mapsonline.net/public.html (warning: creates new link every time you move the map; you may want incognito to avoid clogging browser history)

Provincetown hit 53 mph sustained winds during the peak of the storm.

Because of the narrow area where it hit, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire didn't lose power. Some of Cape Ann (Gloucester area) lost power during the storm, but it got restored by early yesterday.

I have no idea what's happening on March 3-4. Currently, in Apple Weather, I'm seeing 7 inches combined for the two days. Early yesterday, it said 13-20, and late yesterday, it said 3.

I think that means meteorologists have no idea what's happening yet either.

Providence RI shattered its snow record that's held since the blizzard of 78. 37.9" was the unofficial total so far, likely to be revised as they continue to clean up.

Rhode Island seemed to be the bullseye with the highest totals.

Today I woke up to a light dusting of snow.  Why am I mentioning this in a thread about a storm that already moved through here?  Because somehow the roads were worse than they were for the morning after the "bomb cyclone" moved through (and everyone on Reddit was demanding a snow day even though totals where I am were never forecasted to be abnormally high).

Sure, why not Duluth/Superior?

I'm thankful we got spared in Maryland where there are still piles of snow from a month ago.
