Hey all,

Just finished uploading the photos I took yesterday on a trip I took up to the town of Centralia. Photos are here for anyone who's interested:

Heh, I'd seen some older pictures of Centralia, but seeing what it looks like today is very interesting. Awesome pictures!

Yeah, it's very stunning when you look at before and after shots of the town. It looks way different now than it did back 30 years ago!

It's definetely worth a trip over if you have a day or 2 to spare. Thanks for the comment!

It is a shame what happened to that town.  Does anyone still live there?  I heard that shut down the town and made everyone away.

Still 7 residents persistent left. If you want a correlation, I'd say Tocks Island Dam persistence echos that of Centralia.

It's still weird seeing the pics of old Route 61, I remember seeing stories on WNEP, local ABC affiliate, growing up and there were still cars driving on it.  This was right before the US government bought out most of the town in the early '80's.

Still surprised that it took the death of that kid to bring attention to this disaster.  The funny thing is that most of the culm fields and mountains are gone, they burned it in what is called Co-Gen plants for energy.  Also watch for windmills North of there on the eastern mountains of Wyoming Valley, my hometown area.
Life is a highway and I drive it all night long!
