That project involves constructing embankments on 0.6 miles of U.S. 71 on new locations through Chaffee Crossing as well as an overpass bridge at the interchange of U.S. 71 and County Road 8. The path of U.S. 71 in the Fort Smith area is being relocated and will eventually become part of I-49.
