The hood ornament seems to be an Eastern European block rendering of a Jaguar ornament. The car looks nicer than most Eastern European cars of its age, though.

The hood ornament seems to be an Eastern European block rendering of a Jaguar ornament. The car looks nicer than most Eastern European cars of its age, though.

Looks like a Peugeot 403. 

FWIW, in the Columbo detective TV series (which aired mostly on NBC), and starred the late Peter Falk as the LAPD's Lt. Columbo, the Columbo character drove a Peugeot 403 convertible. 

Rather different from the Mopar, Ford and even AMC products seen in Jack Webb's Dragnet and Adam-12 as LAPD vehicles.

Oh, and NOW that I look at the car I photographed, I see the "403." Funny how I never saw it before.
