Below, is an interesting video that was recorded sometime in 2008. From the Far Rockaways of Queens, New York. The two-section traffic signals in the video show the well-known overlap (red and green both lit) before the red indication is shown on its own.

According to the person that recorded this video, the traffic signals were removed from service several months after this video was first uploaded onto YouTube.
