Giant grocery store in Memphis, Tennessee

When I was a kid, my aunt and uncle lived in south Memphis.  One day we were out and about and I saw a Giant grocery store.  The store was notable because of a huge statue of a man looming over the front doors.  Does anyone know where this store is/was located, and if the statue is still there?  My aunt lived near Winchester and Hickory Hill so it was likely in that area.  I seem to remember a Burger King nearby with a playground.  This would have been in 1982 when my cousin was born.  Is this part of Memphis still a decent area or has it gone down the shitter?

I didn't know there were ever any Giant stores in Memphis; I thought they were all on the east coast.

I remember Giant having more of a southeastern presence quite a few years ago. Looks like they've shrunk to the Mid-Atlantic region.

There's more than one chain using the name "Giant," too. The "Giant" you see in Pennsylvania is not generally the same as the one you see in the DC area. Sometimes they're referred to as "Giant of Carlisle" and "Giant of Landover," respectively, to distinguish.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
