A state rep from Dallas, Dan Branch, wants US 75 from downtown to Park Lane renamed for W, but a counter-petition has collected nearly 15,000 signatures.

Meanwhile, in the article, someone has tweeted this photo (https://twitter.com/mcpli/status/314426014266712064/photo/1) between Knox-Henderson and Monticello, with new brown signage for the Bush Center--even though it's not open yet.  W's presidential library will be adjacent to the campus of SMU.

I thought there already was one, east-west near the Southfork ranch.

That's part of the confusion factor.  We already have the Bush Turnpike (named for Papa, not W) plus there will be a street near or next to the new Bush Center named for him, but that's apparently not good enough for the state rep.  I'm afraid I'm with the counter-petitioners, there's more than enough things in DFW named for (or influenced by) the members of the Bush family, we really don't need any more re-namings around here to honor them.  Even if we did, there's still the added confusion that would be so unnecessary.

Do not forget we live in times now where we have no more heroes to name things after anymore.  The political correct society dictates that we need political figures to name honors for and being they did nothing to contribute to society, we will pick what they did for our favorite party instead as political office is for the two big evils and not us citizens anymore..

Like looking for "Peachtree" in Atlanta?

At least they did not name it after JFK; the 50th anniversary of his assassination will be on this coming November 22.

Hey texaskdog, B/CS wanted his library, but Dallas wanted more and SMU gave an attractive offer. As for your cheap shot, you liberals and hippies in Austin can have all of those types as well.  :-)
