It's displaying on Google Maps now, but is not interactive yet - directions won't take you over it.

Right now if someone visiting and unfamiliar with the area was traveling from North Beach to Corpus Christi, Google routes them on a 30 minute detour via the Joe Fulton Corridor and I-37.

It's tourism season during the summer, and especially with 4th of July weekend. There's several attractions on North Beach such as the Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington museum ship, likely to bring visitors with N Padre Island not far away.

It makes me wonder why the DOTs don't work with Google Maps and other mapping software to ensure these new routes are displayed when they open, especially when you're closing an old road with it... not several days later.

Agreed. I was a little shocked that I had to submit it myself.

You'd be surprised how reticent Google Maps/Waze are when it comes to coordinating with DOTs.  Heard that Waze in particular was mostly unresponsive when NYSDOT reached out to have them better notify drivers of the low clearance bridge on the Onondaga Lake Parkway.
Please note: All comments here represent my own personal opinion and do not reflect the official position(s) of NYSDOT.

I'd love to get my hands on a diagram of what the final ramp layout will look like at the S end of IH 37 once the project is complete and the old bridge is demolished.

Anyone got any leads?
"Officer, I'm always careful to drive the speed limit no matter where I am and that's what I was doin'." Said "No, you weren't," she said, "Yes, I was." He said, "Madam, I just clocked you at 22 MPH," and she said "That's the speed limit," he said "No ma'am, that's the route numbah!"  - Gary Crocker

Quote from: Chris on June 22, 2025, 09:39:00 AMIt would've been nice if they opened it on June 19. That's the 2025 date for Corpus Christi. Is this holiday observed in the U.S.?

No, the US is Protestant at its core

Except when it's a fun holiday, like St Patrick's Day.

In the US Catholic Church, Corpus Christi is always on a Sunday (two Sundays after Pentecost) and was on June 22 this year.

Apparently, the only thing not completed is the exits to North Beach. As a result, the old bridge will remain open, at least for a few more weeks.
