Sand for winter storm traction getting 'recycled'

I didn't know this was possible (or even practical), but.....

The NTTA is trying this out at a site underneath the I-35E/TX 121-Sam Rayburn Tollway interchange in Lewisville, north of Dallas.

They should recycle that garbage also by spreading it across the road, because clearly this is what the littering public wants in a road.

While the numbers sound impressive, they're really not.  The amount of sand that's saved from going into the landfill is about the equivalent of 10 swimming pools.  On the whole, it's a very small number.

This is NTTA only, not TxDOT. They only have a little more than 120 miles of tollways to worry about. If TxDOT and the various cities did the same thing, that would increase the amount by a factor of hundreds.
