Strange. The traffic light there right now doesn't really cause any issues. U.S. 160 there really doesn't have the kind of traffic that creates any problems.

If there's a traffic light there, it's a temporary rig. The plans and GSV show that the intersection has stop signs on US 160, including in the medians (where one would normally see yield signs)

Never mind. I read "69" instead of "169."

October lettings have been updated with the approved bids announced 11/5.

Does anyone know what "heater scarification (no overlay)" means?

Does anyone know what "heater scarification (no overlay)" means?

It appears to be a form of hot in-place pavement recycling that is suitable for pavements that are not too seriously rutted.

Saw this in the KC Star today (don't want to start a new thread for this) https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article221895455.html

Quote
One of the worst traffic bottlenecks in Johnson County — and in the state of Kansas for that matter — will get some relief thanks to about $14.5 million in federal funds and $1.65 million in funds from Johnson County.

Interstate 35 under the 75th Street bridge in Johnson County will be widened by one lane in each direction, with construction starting in spring of 2020, Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer announced Tuesday.

November Bid list updated with the approved bids. Only one project from November did not have an approved bid announced, a brick street rehabilitation project in Manhattan. Presumably, the approved bid has to go to the Manhattan City Council for concurrence before the contract can actually be award.

For some reason, K-171 was noted on the release as K-171(02). This is the first time I've seen such a distinction. Ironically, it should no longer be necessary, as Rice County agreed to take back the 'other' K-171 in exchange for ARRA funds to repave the street in Bushton.

This was at the bottom of the article about the Buck O'Neil bridge grant.

Quote
Outgoing Congressman Kevin Yoder, R-Kan., also announced the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City Kan. got a $13.8 million grant to replace the interchange at Interstate 70 and the Turner Diagonal.

Yoder said in a release the new interchange would open the door for more economic development.

“This is a massive win for KCK, and will continue to build on the already amazing economic development we have seen over the last decade,” Yoder said.

Or, for those in the know who don't mind a little gravel...  Just keep going north on 160 Road to US-40.  That's 25 miles shorter than the suggested detour.  I've known people who take that route instead of K-25 anyway, just because it shaves off a four-mile corner and avoids going through Russell Springs.

I'd budget at least two months--one for award and another for issuance of notice to proceed.

Heh.  Kansas is quicker than NY.

NY state lets = 45 days to award, more or less.

Local lets are all over the map, with NYCDOT sometimes taking over a year to award.

January and February letting posts have been updated with approved lettings announced on March 8. Two major  collector signage projects from March have yet to be awarded, most likely because KDOT is waiting on the respective county commissions to concur with the approved bids.
