We had a surprise dusting to 1/2 inch of snow last night in Salt Lake. Normally this isn't enough to worry about, but apparently thanks to the relatively lame winter we've had so far everyone forgot how to drive in it. It usually takes a few more inches of snow to cause the amount of traffic accidents we saw on the freeways this morning.

Unfortunately, it appears this storm was too weak to clear the inversion completely, and thanks to the snow that fell this morning we're probably going to see quite a bit of fog in most valleys tonight. Looks like we will have a few weak storms next week, which should keep valley inversions from becoming too bad and hopefully give us at least a little snow.

This morning's been kinda stormy, with a tornado watch and quite a bit of rain falling. The rest of the week should be awesome weatherize.

Much of the state of MO is starting their new year with an ice storm. The freezing line is a bit south of here, so I am recieving some ice, but probably not enough to cause an outage.. only because it's once degree below freezing.

Meanwhile, we're getting some good accumulating snow here in Central Oklahoma. Very unusual to have as much snow as we've had already this winter, and January and February are normally our big snow months.

Here in Wichita, we received about three inches of snow.  It was wet enough that shoveling it takes some muscle.

Had some snow NYE. Third of the season. Virtually no accumulation.
There was also freezing rain the night before yesterday, and our neighbor's tree fell into their house!. An inch of ice on all the plants.

With our second snowfall arriving last night, we've tied you up at two.  :)
Third snowfall this morning; around an inch or so and still falling... slowly...
Fourth snowfall this morning; just a dusting that hardly covered the grass, but still enough to create some very icy roads.
Fifth snowfall creating messy roads just in time for our afternoon commute. It's still coming down as of this post, but it's much worse further south. ...
Woke up to snowfall #6 this morning, a sloppy inch or so thanks to temps hovering right around freezing.
We got our seventh snowfall last night; it was just a dusting, but areas downwind of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario got a lot more.
Snowfall #8 should ensure there's snow on the ground for New Year's. We got a good 3-4 inches last night and more is falling now.

Snow much for snow on New Years. What we did have was long gone by then, and there's been basically nothing since aside from a sloppy dusting at home (nothing at work) yesterday morning.

It's been pretty perfect in Seattle the last couple days: partly to mostly cloudy, upper 40s. Got in an 8-mile walk on Wednesday (06 Jan) and a 15-mile bike ride today (Thursday 07 Jan). It was really nice to do that since neither are very fun when it's rainy. I can walk to the store when it's raining but 8 miles in the rain is crap and I'd rather hit a treadmill.

Rainy, wet, sloppy day here in Houston today with the high peaking at about 45 early this morning. Barely missed out on some snow, although Waco and Lufkin did get quite a bit. Next week figures to be sunny and relatively cool, with highs around 60 and lows around 40.

It has been boring weather wise for the past week. Cloudy skies everyday except Saturday which had some sun for once. Temperatures have not moved much around 30 degrees

Had some thundersnow last night and a quick dump of 2.1 inches. Today might be the sunniest day in 10 days!

As many of you may have seen on TV, it started snowing downtown right about when the VP-elect came out onto the platform. It started here shortly afterwards. Swirling, tiny flakes, highly unlikely to amount to anything.

Yet another dusting yesterday morning, and now, finally, some more substantial snowfall yesterday afternoon/evening and into this morning. There's probably about 4-5 inches on the ground, easily the most we've had all year.

So far 2021's been pretty interesting in terms of weather. The first 14-16 days had mostly below average temperatures and numerous cold fronts, but over the past week the weather has stagnated into a cloudy 70s/60s pattern. The past 4 days have been especially dreary. Wednesday was foggy all day, something that I don't see that often, and it has been cloudy since. The clouds will likely remain for at least a couple more days along with the high (for winter) temperatures.

On a side note, it's not terribly uncommon for the temperature to reach 80 degrees here in the winter (maybe once a year), but so far it hasn't happened yet, which is nice.

Expecting our first big snowstorm of the season tomorrow and Tuesday. This could be the biggest snow at O'Hare since November of 2018. Quite a drought for 6+ inch snowfall events

I had a 15 degree low this morning at my home, which astounds me that it's the coldest January morning so far.

The avg. low temp at my home, with 15 years of data tracking, is a whopping 7.5 degrees above normal. The avg. high temp is 2.9 degrees above normal.

Also odd that the range of temps in the month is only 15-51. Last year it was 7-70.

We went almost the entire month of January at or above normal. The only below normal days was Thursday, Friday, and yesterday. Even after this snowstorm our highs are still expected to remain at or above the late January/early Feb averages

Heavy rain this morning. Still cloudy.

Side note: If you go to this link, you'll see most flights coming into DFW by going to the south and swinging around Austin. This is because of t-storms over Tyler and Texarkana, east of Dallas.

Had a nice squall line move through Atlanta overnight. I was awakened about 5 AM by thunder and lightning along with some fairly heavy rain. For the most part no severe weather was reported around here, though there were a handful of severe thunderstorm warnings issued and even a tornado warning for Cobb County (about 10 miles from me).

The same can't be said for Alabama, as a strong tornado hit the northern Birmingham suburbs about midnight last night causing one death and multiple injuries. Haven't seen an official rating yet but based on the photos I'm guessing EF2-EF3 range.
