A supercell produced four separate tornadoes last night, one of them killing two people about 30 miles south of me.

Dreadful. Freezing rain on top of 40 km/h winds with 75 km/h gusts. Schools are closed as a result, yet I'm still on the bus for the hell of it.

Yesterday we hit a record high for the date of 84°. As I type this, my Apple Watch says it's 84° again today. Storms are supposed to blow in tonight or tomorrow and knock things back to more March-like temperatures.

We've been well in the double digits Celsius since Saturday, and yesterday hit a whopping 19C (66F)! I left a week ago and there were large snowbanks everywhere, and when I returned Monday night, nearly all the snow had melted. Unfortunately, the high temperatures and rain caused flooding and destroyed the work platform under the bridge on one of my projects which will cost us 2 weeks of delay. But it is nice to see grass back home again after months of a consistently cold and snowy winter.

Tomorrow's supposed to be cold again with a high of only -1C (30F), but then Sunday could go back up to 11C (52F).

No, we were just north of the frontal boundary that caused the storms, so we got a lot of lightning and rain but no hair or tornadoes.

Today has been pretty breezy, with winds well over 20 mph.  Temps have been around 50°F, but the wind makes it feel colder because it's from the north.  The clouds have cleared out, though.  Tonight's low is supposed to be down around 30°F, but then highs are supposed to be back up into the 60s and 70s through Saturday.

Forecast for South Lake Tahoe (airport elevation 6257 feet) for the next several days.  The first date when the average high temperature is at least 60°F is May 8.  The averages for the middle of March are:  high 48°F, low 24°F.

It's 75° inside the house and I'm barefoot and wearing shorts. Outside, it was 58° when I got up at 7:00, and it's now 49° with a cold, cutting wind at 8:04. Possible snow forecast later today. It won't stick to anything after two days in the mid-80s, but still, snow after that kind of warm weather would be quite weird.

As of 12:20 PM, it's snowing, coming down at a pretty good clip. Very strange 24-hour change in the weather.

Yesterday morning when we got up to get ready for church, it was at least 60°F outside.  There was a very strong wind from the north, with trash and even uprooted plants blowing across the highway.  It was hard to pay attention to the sermon, because it kept sounding like the wind was going to rip the whole church building apart.  They say the gusts were close to 50 mph, but the gusts were so frequent that you might as well call them sustained winds.  When we left to go home, it was below 40°F.  It was a mix of sun and clouds, but the clear parts of the sky weren't really clear because of all the blowing dust in the air.  Our son commented on the way home that the ground looked brighter than the sky because there was so much dusty haze in front of the sun.

This morning when I left for work, it was 15°F with clear skies, and the wind was still strong from the north.  The forecast says it will get up to about 39°F today.

Wednesday is expected to crack 80°F again, and Friday and Saturday have forecast highs above 90°F.

Welcome to March.

Medium-heavy rain. Where I am in northeastern Massachusetts 15 miles from the coast, highs will be 22 mph sustained and 51 mph gusts, occurring at midnight between today and tomorrow. As far as I can tell, this is not a storm, just "natural" rain and high wind. No thunder.

Wind speeds on Cape Cod at their maximum (next midnight):
Chatham: 38 sustained, 60 gusts
Woods Hole: 36 sustained, 57 gusts
Provincetown: 40 sustained, 58 gusts

Wind speeds in Gloucester: 31 sustained, 51 gusts

Current wind speed is 7 mph here, in Newburyport, and in Boston, and in the low 20s on Cape Cod and in Gloucester.

The rain is bringing temperatures up to the 60s here and the 50s in higher-wind areas, although it's not quite there yet only being 9:30 AM. The 60s/50s remain overnight during the high rain/wind.

It is disgustingly, unseasonably warm outside. We're under a tornado watch until 7:00 tonight. Dulles Airport is currently under a tornado warning, but that's 15 miles away or so (as the crow flies). All the local school districts closed early today so the school buses won't be out on the roads this afternoon,w hen there are projected to be thunderstorms with 75- to 80-mph wind gusts.

I don't ever remember a tornado warning this early in the day.

That same system prompted a severe thunderstorm warning for me an hour later, and we've otherwise had on-and-off heavy rain all afternoon (and we're under the same tornado watch as you, plus a wind advisory).

Meanwhile, I-495 south at the Legion Bridge appears to have flooded out - here's a screenshot of the closest traffic camera on the Maryland side zoomed in on it:

"Now, what if da Bearss were to enter the Indianapolis 5-hunnert?"
"How would they compete?"
"Let's say they rode together in a big buss."
"Is Ditka driving?"
"Of course!"
"Then I like da Bear buss."
"DA BEARSSS BUSSSS"

I found it somewhat disturbing a few minutes ago that the weather graphic on TV had a "Flood Warning" arrow pointing pretty much directly at my mother's neighborhood. The more likely place for flooding is about half a mile away where the creek near her house passes under a low-lying road, and then another mile or so from there where there is almost always flooding after significant rain.

We didn't get much rain earlier this afternoon. Just a torrential downpour for about 15 minutes. Guess we'll see how the rest of the day goes.

Our weather here has been quite interesting. Yesterday, it was in the 70s, and it was about 50° this morning with rain. About 3 or 4 PM, snow started falling, and by now, there's 2" of snow and it is 32°. Luckily the roads aren't covered and our school district's Spring Break is this week.

Winter has returned with a vengeance....March 15th was unseasonably warm and March 16th is unseasonably cold.  We go from summer-like to winter wonderland in one day.

                                     3/15 Actual               3/16 Actual                  AVERAGE
BROWNSVILLE:            99 high; 75 low          72 high; 55 low              81 high; 63 low
CORPUS CHRISTI:        98 high; 74 low          68 high; 50 low              78 high; 62 low
LAREDO:                    103 high; 73 low          70 high; 52 low              84 high; 59 low
MCALLEN:                  104 high; 76 low          75 high; 51 low              83 high; 63 low

Heat Index on the 15th was as much as 114 degrees (in parts of the RGV).
Wind Chills on the 16th was as low as 38 degrees (places like Woodsboro and Bayside).

I'm having a hard time remembering if we even had a cold front this intense in this century.
We're so far south that we're not even considered "The South"

After hitting 67 earlier today, it is now snowing.
