At sunrise this morning, it was 84°F.  It's 87°F now at 8:45am.  They predict it will get up to 107°F this afternoon, which will make it the sixth day in a row with a temp of 99°F or higher.  Friday and Saturday are also expected to get above 100°F.  Then, if they're right, the wind will finally shift to come from the north, and high temps will get below 95°F—but only for two days before they jump up to triple digits again.

At least your dew points are only in the 60s, which is not too moist and not too dry.  Our dew points are daily hovering near 80 degrees, which is quite uncomfortable.

Oh, for sure.  I traveled to northern Veracruz last August, which involved walking for about a kilometer in Tampico between a city bus stop and the intercity bus station, and I was all but completely drenched in sweat when I arrived.  It takes a special sort of person to live near the Gulf in the summer, I think.

My a/c compressor seized up a couple of years ago.  I replaced the compressor but spilled a bunch of PAG oil in the process.  Now it moans after just a minute or two of using the a/c.  So it's either low on PAG oil, or else—more likely, I think—there are shards of the old seized-up compressor stuck in an orifice tube or something like that.  Rather than spend more money to have the whole system replaced, we just keep it turned off except to quickly defog the windshield if needed.

My first post since Tuesday morning, and probably my last for the next several days.

Tuesday about 11am a tornado + straight lines winds > 80 mph ripped through my town. Have been without power, internet, or reliable phone signal since then. Only able to post this now because I'm at the hospital with my wife, who has to have weekly treatments until she can receive a liver transplant. On top of that I haven't worked in almost a year now because our dear Fuhrer President arbitrarily eliminated a whole bunch of government jobs.
