Signs I've seen

Okay,
Since everybody here is posting images of signs, I thought I'd show off some of the ones I've seen that I actually have pictures of.

I'm going to start with a big red sign at the northeast bound ramp of I-95's Maryland House.

D-Dey65

Think this is in the midwest somewhere? Nope. It's the north end of Pasco County Road 583 at the intersection of Florida State Road 52. This picture was taken at least eight years ago, and FDOT still hasn't corrected it.

On the other end of Pasco CR 583, I've got some old Orange US 41 signs. They were taken down when FDOT widened US 41 from two lanes to six lanes.

Speaking of sign errors, here's some at the northbound off-ramp of Exit 309 on Interstate 75. The cardinal directions on these signs are incorrect. Sumter CR 673 should be east and Sumter CR 476B should be north. I wrote to FDOT #5 about this, and the official reply was that they were going on the basis of even vs. odd numbers, not the actual directions of the roads.

Veterans Expressway & Suncoast Parkway(2 pages of images):

I'll try tor dredge for others, then I'll look for some more non-Florida road scenes I've taken pictures of.

Suddenly, this board is hindering my ability to upload images, and forcing me to resort to adding image URL's that don't always work.

:hmmm:

Due to server constraints, we have disabled image uploading directly to AARoads.  You may want to create a free Flickr account to showcase your photos.

I have a free Flickr account. It's overloaded, and I haven't been able to get rid of all the images that give me the right to keep it as a free account.

I have been able to make the occasional unregistered upload into Image Shack, but that's not always reliable either.

Doesn't West Virginia use a symbol for "School Bus Stop Ahead"? If so, pics wanted.

The next MUTCD has a new symbol proposed to replace the current text version of this sign.  The new symbol is based on the ones used in West Virginia and Canada.

A graphical image is contained in the FHWA MUTCD changes Powerpoint presentation on this page. Open the Powerpoint file for chapter 7, and the image is on slide 8.

Did I post a link to some of my early-2000's Long Island Expressway photos? Well here they are:

Just a note: You need to be a member of the Yahoo group northeastroads before you can view the pictures.

Well, I am a member, as well as the Yahoo NortheastRoads and FloridaRoads groups. But latley I've been having too much trouble with both of them.

Luckily I can still swipe images from that link... sometimes.

This is a picture of the first Tourist Attraction sign on the Long Island Expressway near Exit 62(Suffolk County Road 97). I took this in December 2000, but I don't remember the exact date.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that the forum is back, but we should still be allowed to add images directly.

Just host them at another site like you have had to for months--why use up vast quantities of our storage space here? Hosting them elsewhere is even easier on you, as you can see and manage everything you've uploaded from one place, you can customize how the image(s) appear in your post (and caption them), and we don't have to click the little thumbnail at the bottom.

After seeing the diagram in the MUTCD revision slideshow, I would like to see it without the red. Save the red-on-green for traffic signals or Christmas.  :colorful:

it hoses the server, and the forum upload algorithm is a potential source of security problems.

Yes, and I know I have photos of it somewhere on my site, but am too lazy to go poking around for it. If anyone wants to look, feel free to post the link to the image here using the IMG tool here.

Actually, it may be in the 2009 proposed MUTCD (well, now 2010).  It's a large black bus with a red flashing light on top.

EDIT: Well, whaddaya know, it's on my site!  http://www.alpsroads.net/roads/wv/wv_55/school.jpg except yeah, usually there's a red light on top.

Yes that's it. I have never seen one in WV with any red on it.

In that case, as I said, no red light.  :ded:

Scott5114

The MUTCD folks probably added that. I'm guessing to emphasize the fact that the bus is stopped instead of just driving around in the area?

About this sign, I recently checked it out, and found the date stamped on the back; August (23?), 2003.
