The city limits are back for

Pittsburgh, PA
East Pittsburgh, PA
Pittsburg, KS
and
Pittsburg, CA

As for CDP's, Ocean Pines, MD's borders are showing but not West Pittsburg, PA (yes, it goes without the final "h").

What about South Pittsburg, TN?

EDIT: Yea, it shows them:

I noticed this last week as well and was wondering. Bing maps still displays the city limits if you type in a city FWIW.

Regarding Google dropping their display, could be that maintaining up to date city limits is too much of a hassle. When I did research for my old boss last year for his Tallahassee area book, Gadsden County GIS was reluctant to supply me with city limits shape files. I had to coax the property appraiser GIS specialist to speak with his boss to allow me to purchase the files for $100, under the premise that they would get several copies of the atlas my old boss was making. The guy made it seem as if their data was protected, and still seemed reluctant to supply it to me. I ran into similar issues years ago with Baldwin County, Alabama and others when working at Mapsource too.

That's really odd.

For what it's worth, Oklahoma DOT has a shapefile with the city limits of every incorporated town in the state on their website. Don't know how frequently it's updated, though.

Google appears to only show one boundary at a time in the US:  one city, one county, one zip code etc that you are searching on.

These tools shows ALL boundaries on Google Maps:

County Lines on Google Maps https://www.randymajors.com/p/countygmap.html
City Limits on Google Maps  https://www.randymajors.com/p/citylimitsongooglemaps.html
ZIP Codes on Google Maps https://www.randymajors.com/p/zipcodegmap.html
Area Codes on Google Maps https://www.randymajors.com/p/areacodesongooglemaps.html

Iíve just searched a few municipalities, counties, and ZIP codes (all on a Mac desktop using Safari), and all are showing up correctly with a red outline showing the boundary and a dark tint covering the outside area.

At least one category of boundaries that isnít showing up correctly (and wasnít in prior weeks/months either) is school districts. Whatís odd about it is that Google apparently does have district boundary information, and if you search the name of a school district using the general Google web search (on desktop, anyway), you typically get a Google Knowledge Panel including an inset map with the boundaries of the district. Yet if you click on that map, the resulting Google Map that opens simply places a pinpoint at the geographic center of the district and does not show the boundariesómaking it nearly impossible to determine whether a specific address is in that district or not.

You just revived a thread that was dead for four months...

Either way, it seems this issue has been resolved. School districts are still broken, however.

You could search for school districts on Google Maps? Dang, should've tried that when I had the chance. When did the ability to do so get removed?

Honestly, there's not much point in them even HAVING the data if they aren't going to offer it to users.

Agreed, this is why I use (and contribute to) OpenStreetMap in preference to Google Maps as much as possible. In fact I only report errors on Google Maps when they are egregious.
