That shouldn't count. That's standard practice in Virginia -- placing a route marker above a mileage sign. Those signs are placed there purposely and not as an afterthought. I could have posted a bunch of examples from Ohio had I been inclined to search my collection.

I was hoping for Mexico, Mo.

I do have this from western Kentucky, though.

How about Mexico, NY?  I remember posting this picture somewhere on the forum a few years ago when I first saw it on Imgur.

Florida doesn't have an SR 27, but they're the only one with green US 27 shields:

New Mexico was the 47th state admitted to the Union:

Are we keeping this one open until all U.S. states and Canadian provinces are represented (at least one where such a route exists)?

Thanks for remembering Canada!
Too bad Ontario doesn't have a highway 1.

MB 5 and TCH 16 in Neepawa, MB. Manitoba was the fifth province to join Canada.

SK 8 at TCH 1 in Moosomin, SK. Saskatchewan was the eighth province to join Canada.

Not sure if this counts...
US 27 at Florida's Turnpike. Florida was the twenty-seventh state to join the US.

This was probably inspired by map that's floating around on Facebook.

Anyway, Kentucky was the 15th state. And my office fronts KY 15. So...

A bit controversial this one. At some point there may be another state admitted. We don't know what it is so I've used a US shield as a generic 51.

Had to dig into my 2005 pictures for this one... Colorado was the 38th state, admitted August 1,1876.

SH 38 was decommissioned in 2007 in exchange for Colorado Springs getting SH 21 on the east side...
