That's Illinois'. Where's Missouri's?

Since it's a single route in the two states, I assumed we were doing what we did with previous numbers (155, 255, probably others) and representing each instance of a route once, even if that route spans multiple states.  I think 265 was an exception since it's intended as a single route, but the Indiana and Kentucky parts are not yet a single, signed route.
I-265 KY/IN didn't use to actually be a single route, and was 2 separate routes, fully in KY and IN. The physical route is now bridged (literally and figuratively) to be one route, from I-64 in New Albany, IN to I-65 in southern Louisville, KY, but not yet signed I-265 across the new sections that include the new Ohio River bridge and a tunnel in KY

Now, that being said, do we have to go back and do a 2nd I-95 now? :P Since that isn't even a single, continuous route! Looking at you, New Jersey! And a little bit at PA, but really, its NJ's fault...

Not to mention, the various gaps in I-49 and I-69, as they are being built

We only needed one pic for the various multi-state 2di's and 3di's, with there being exceptions, namely, those with gaps that may eventually be filled (see I-69, I-74 and I-265) and those that exist in different parts of the country (I-76, I-84, I-86 and I-88). So now that we have that out of the way, let's continue with the first of four I-275s, the one around Cincinnati:

And coincidentally, that's a multi-state 3di, as noted on the BGS, but since it's all a continuous loop in three states (OH, KY and IN), we can move on to the other three (Tampa Bay, Knoxville, Detroit).
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

I like that I-275 BGS!

Illinois isn't the only state to use Control States!

Indiana does too, at least occasionally, anyway

Jim

Here's a state-named I-275 to take care of Florida's.  Take on US 19 in St. Pete.  April 6, 2012.

I like that I-275 BGS!

Illinois isn't the only state to use Control States!

Indiana does too, at least occasionally, anyway

Minnesota does too, on I-35 for I-535, using Wisconsin instead of the obvious: Superior.

I think my favorite in IL is I-55 and I-80 at their interchange, simply for being consistently inconsistent

Controls for I-80: Indiana and Iowa
Controls for I-55: Saint Louis and Chicago

Chicago, obviously. But if you are using Indiana and Iowa for I-80, why not Missouri for I-55 Southbound? Or, if you are using St Louis for I-55, why not Gary or South Bend and Des Moines for I-80?

Finishing off I-280 with New Jersey.  Taken in Eagle Rock.  July 9, 2007.

And now, I-285 would be next. We have GA to cover, but is the one in NC signed yet?

Hmm, I wonder if I can scrounge up an I-285 photo somewhere...  :hmmm:

I think the "Indiana" is a quasi-abbreviation of "Indiana Toll Road" because it technically doesn't serve any big cities in Indiana. It kind of skirts around Gary, South Bend, and Elkhart. Whereas I-55 SB serves Bloomington-Normal and Springfield before it gets to St Louis.

Not saying I agree with the signing method, just trying to rationalize it.

Backtracking to the future I-285 in NC:

Now, presenting the last I-290, in my hometown of Chicago:

Up next: I-291 (two of them, to be exact).
