That too, though it's not the first thing I think of when I see something like this.
Virginia and Illinois might be the only states that do Clearview well. Pennsylvania Clearview is on par with everyday Oklahoma
Those signs are in New York, not Pennsylvania.

Michigan does it well, although it also uses Clearview on exit number tabs.

I merged both of these threads and put it all in Southeast since this is mainly a TN item.  -Mark

Sigh    The last of the remnants of the former " Western Tennessee" threads. Gone. Memphis bridges are dependent on Arkansas. While Memphis is the poor step-child to Nashville (the capitol) it is more dependant on Arkansas' relative poverty in the realm of bridges to ARKANSAS.

I finally am at a point I have adapted, but the geopolitical communities of the mid-south versus state lines has  finally completely been surrendered in Tennessee.

Ironically, Texas is the true outlier in the mid-south.  Defining the mid south would be (arguably) Arkansas, Mississippi, Southern Missouri, Western Tennessee, Western La (all of it that is north of the 31st parallel and EVERYTHING west of the Atchafalaya to the coast), and perhaps the parts of Texas (east of I-45 without metro Houston or D-FW.)  Admittedly, I did not add Oklahoma.

My rant is done. Yes, your moving that string to Southeast is 100% consistent with the current territorial definitions.

Let's build what we need as economically as possible.

Has anybody driven through there and can comment on how well the roundabout is to drive?  Does it seem intuitive.  Do you notice an improvement.  [This is obviously an improvement to take I-55 through traffic away from the old interchange, but I'm curious as to the effects for local traffic.

Five US routes is amazing.  Are the US routes signed well in the area from a navigational point of view?  I assume that the opposite directions 61 north, 64 west, 70 west, 78 west, and 79 south all utilize the bridge to Arkansas.  (Forgive me, the routing of the routes is not clear on Google maps.)

It's been done for a hot minute. When I drove through in June it was all done. Speaking of driving through, that means I can answer...

I never used the old interchange in its cloverleaf configuration (I think I passed through once while they had the interim wrong way cloverleaf configuration during construction, but that's the earliest I ever drove it), but I can only imagine it is much faster and safer with the new interchange. I found the roundabout intuitive, and local traffic was moving through the roundabout just fine. Based on what I've seen of the old interchange, this is a massive improvement. If I would make one criticism, the new main lanes for I-55 have a deceptively tight 45 mph curve here and the lanes are kinda tight, but given the space they had to work with, I find it acceptable.

It looks like all five routes are signed in Tennessee after the roundabout here on an overhead sign:

Outside of the interchange the routes are signed about as well as you'd expect city center Tennessee shield signage to be (which is not great), but it's still enough to be navigable.

It seems like at some point in my childhood portions of Second and Third Streets in downtown Memphis (both one-way) were signed with six different US routes:  61, 64, 70, 72, 78, and 79.  This would have been in the 1960s and 1970s.

EDIT:  that should be 51, not 61.  61 went across the Memphis-Arkansas Bridge.  My bad.

Google Maps Street View was updated late last year to show the completed reconstruction of Interstate 55 and the new roundabout at Riverside Dr. and W. E.H. Crump Blvd. Next, of course, comes construction of the new "America's River Crossing" bridge over the Mississippi River, which I think is planned to start this year.

US 72 was signed eastbound from the first light east of the US 61-64-70-79 bridge.

Here is a 5-shield assembly with 51-64-70-72-79 just after US 78: https://memphislibrary.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p13039dc/id/1177

Some Esso maps did show US 78 extended to that intersection but I am skeptical it was posted WB to there

Nobody's going to miss that bottleneck cloverleaf. The new directional T is a vast improvement over what was there before.

Thanks to Arkansas and their need for a US route from Swifton to Blytheville,  we now have more to add to the salad. :)
