looks like the 1969 US-5 photo has both underlighting and button copy!  Gotta love the pre-energy-crisis days.

here's a different 220.  Both 220 and 309 promptly die at the NY state line because New York did not believe in a vast grid of roads; just a few select ones.

I hope Texas sticks with that style of farm road shield on the green signs, as it looks way better than the Boring Square.
