What? I'm not finding any Keeneyville.

Quote from: edwaleni on May 07, 2025, 11:21:58 PMUntil then I-57 will end south of Keeneyville in Missouri and end north of Corning in Arkansas.

It won't end north of Corning until the part from Walnut Ridge to the Corning bypass is complete, which will be years if not decades away. And it currently ends just south of Miner. I don't know where Keeneyville, MO is.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Pretty sure that is supposed to read "Neelyville MO" but I don't want to speak for edwaleni

My bad. It's Neelyville.

Looking at too many maps lately, getting my town names mixed.

Keeneyville is an unincorporated town in Illinois north of Bloomingdale. I was looking at historical maps of the Chicago area and got that name in my head.

I'm sorry about my post from Wednesday.....I had meant to ask why I-440 between I-40 and I-57 has NOT been signed as I-440, even though it was approved?  Sometimes, my fingers type a little too fast for what I try to say.

Arkansas uses a different signage vendor for interstate highways than for other highways, so there's probably some lead time involved.

I see a lot on social media from the city of Jacksonville concerning the percentage that the project to widen I-57 through Jacksonville is done, but any idea on how much is done concerning the Cabot part of the project?  Anyone think that the Cabot part of the project could be done earlier?

Quote from: TBKS1 on May 01, 2025, 01:08:18 PMSo a few of the BGSes towards the southern terminus have had green-out patches over the US 67/167 shields in favor of I-57 shields instead. I'm sure this is just temporary until better replacements for BGSes get made but I don't like the way this looks at all.

EWWW. UGH. Not just for the small I-57 shield, but the fact that it should be as large AND switched over to the left side of that too damn huge I-40 shield. As in: SOUTH I-57 < > TO I-40.

That's the state DOT doing crap on the cheap. Patch job city. And in a really bad way.

I just drove I-57 from I-40 to AR 14 in Newport. I can confirm I-57 is consistently signed from the southern terminus to AR 440 (not changed over to I-440 yet), and from exit 21 to exit 80.

And they took out the US-67/167 shields instead of placing the I-57 shield alongside them. AFAIK, US-67/167 hasn't been decommissioned, so they should stay put on the sign.

Is the bridge over the White River signed as US 67?

I wasn't paying too much attention to the shields there, but I don't think so? GSV seems to confirm that too, as there's some April 2025 imagery showing I-57 shields near Bradford, but not north of there.

The 2025 Arkansas official highway map shows the stretch between exits 69 and 74 as solo US 67.

I suspect that everyone will continue to call it Highway 67/167, and it'll get the same treatment as the I-64 extension through St. Louis (over US 40). And yeah, I think the patched-over sign is one of the ugliest on this side of OK, with one tiny shield and a big-ass one that should be switched anyway.

I thought this might have been covered earlier....this section is approved for farm implement use to cross the White River and they don't have the waiver yet. I don't think there are any farmers left who use it for that purpose, but that is IMHO

That makes sense in why it can't yet be designated I-57. I think all the state FHWA division offices are a little bit different in their stance for exceptions allowing farm implements. In IL, we got a pretty clear message that they wouldn't grant I-72 an exception at the Illinois River crossing when we were looking at alternatives for the IL 100-106 crossing a few miles to the south.

The exit numbers are 5 apart but the map shows it at 8 miles. Thought that was odd.

The Ghostbuster

Wasn't farm crossings also a problem for the US 63 bridge over the Tyronza River before it was designated as Interstate 555?

It was the St Francis River and the Sunken Lands west of the river if memory serves.

Given that there isn't another mileage number between exits 65 and 69, the 8 miles is being measured between exit 65 and exit 74.
