I found a US 50S sign in the KSHS online photo archives:

Based on the pic, I created this US 50S shield. I don't claim to be perfect, but comments are welcome:

where did you get those fonts?  they're not quite mine, but they're close...

The KANSAS font should be slightly taller, but more importantly, the letters are wider/thicker so that there's not the space between them.  The letters look a little sharp - need smoother edges (the rest of the shield looks better).
