That detestable group can't appreciate a weird or unique sign.  Hard core MUTCD adherents, NUMTOTS and safety nerds aren't exactly the company I like to find myself in.

If ODOT wanted to signpost the Highways, that state outline shield would work well. The Routes, on the other hand, should retain the teardrop shield -- preferably cutout.

In your defense, I've driven on Tiller-Trail Hwy a couple times since the 2012 relinquishment, and the Jackson Co segment was still signed as OR 227 those times, so I also thought the route designation still existed.

But I just did a quick check on ODOT's Route-to-Hwy Cross Reference Table, and sure enough, 227 no longer appears on it. So I guess it is officially kaput.

That said, you shouldn't consider it a total waste of time. I've driven on a number of ex-highways and old alignments out of sheer curiosity over the years. It's still interesting to see the old routes & highways. And that is a pretty scenic drive, highway or not.

I wonder if it will be given a Jackson County route number, since it's now County Route 1 in Douglas.
