This used to bother me when I was young. It still does, mildly. Why put a website on your plate instead of the actual name? I'm glad that they have removed it though.

Florida's plate font is still wack.

Until last year's base, Coahuila stylized "Mágico Coahuila" on its license plates as magicoahuila.

Clever puns are timeless. Websites on license plates are as dated as shag carpets.

Seeing as I generally don't believe in like license plates with drawings or graphics, obviously I got Washington State's new "throwback" license plate. I don't like the white border, so I added a black plate frame:

The colored expiration tabs are extremely irritating, but I'm aware of no way around that as long as they are required.

I regret to inform you, but your license plate seems to have graphics of a 9, and 6, and a 2 on it (among other things).

For God's sake, Scott...I should've expected this level of pedantry.

You could even argue the stacked "WA" is needlessly artistic too.

I think that little bit of color makes it look really sharp.

I am probably being a bit dramatic, but it would be nice if there was some way to go all monochrome.

It looks decent with the blue, but the 2027 sticker will be a different color. I'm praying it's black.

At least theirs was tourism-oriented -- looking at you, dmv.ca.gov

Meanwhile, I dislike the assumption that my license plate should be a billboard for would-be tourists.

As someone who despises graphics on license plates, I'm glad more states are giving the option to have graphic-less plates.  The best looking plates IMO are the boring ones that look the most mid-20th century or "industrial."  Two colors and nothing except the state name, plate number, tabs, and maybe a motto or slogan looks best.  I just wish I could my state would issue embossed plates instead of screened.

You lucked out and randomly got 9-6-2 on a German car, think of it as a blue flag to other vehicles...

Mexico City and San Luis Potosí are launching World Cup themed license plates.  The SLP ones violate current design standards by having the graphics encroach on the serial number.

Georgia is full of out-of-state college plates, started when they surprisingly approved an Auburn plate in the early 2000s.

The out-of-state college plates for rivals of major in-state schools always look especially cursed to me. Here's another one:

I must say I don't like that slash thing. It's looks stupid to me. You'd think they could differentiate the width of the 0 and O to indicate which is which. Or if numbers and letters were always in separate groups of digits like most states there would be no confustion at all.

I actually like the stragiht forward font used for FLORIDA. It's clean and carries over to many plates which is official feeling.

I like you monotone color scheme with plate and car. I actually love the blue sticker also. Sometimes it takes contrasting juxtaposition to appreciate the all black and gray theme.

How would an out-of-state toll reader be able to know the rules for every state?

I'm not even sure it's relevant, because I can't think of any state that uses slashed zeroes where there could be any confusion between a zero and the letter o.

Iowa has both slashed zeros and the letter O. But they also don't have toll roads.

For whatever reason, Pennsylvania specified a zero that looks a lot like an "8" and a Greek letter theta.

It looks amateurish, to be a little more specific...like a mix of sans-serif fonts were just randomly picked some time around 2018-19. They already had a very recognizable font in use for years; I recall the Q and an O (letter "oh") looked a bit similar but they played around with it over the years to try to make them look different. The real problem was the busy orange-and-green State Orange and Blossom Device which was the same color as the font, so as to make that part less readable; instead of shifting it to the left they just left it alone in the center for years.
