And you shouldn't. Ever. Who the heck authorized this non-conforming sign?

I think it's totally rad.

Reminds me a Florida style US Route shield, I like it.

Sooooo...that negative US 50 shield has a soulmate, just a few hundred yards away.

I turned from US 50 on to Nevada 207 today and was greeted by this shiny new Thing Of Beauty.  This is the replacement for the shield I photographed some time ago and am using as my current avatar.

In addition to the obvious, it's missing the Begin banner which is NDOT's usual practice (cropped out of the avatar).

Both this one and the negative US 50 shield have been installed in the last few days, no doubt by the same field crew.  I'm sure they would say, "Sir, we don't ask questions, we just follow the instructions on the work order."

But somebody at NDOT ought to knock on the door of the sign shop and see what other imaginative works of art may be standing in the "Ready To Install" rack.

These are both in places I pass all the time, so I'm interested to see how long they remain in place.

I misread this as referring to your (DenverBrian's) avatar, and thought you were making a very strongly felt reference to a potential extension of I-11 :)

I mean, it's wrong, but it's wrong in a way that's really cool.

Yeah, I was the one who posted these on FB over the last few days, and I was quite surprised myself. Nevada rarely has shield errors, yet we have two brand new state-installed shields that are wrong.

I work around the corner from these, so I'll be able to keep tabs on them. Part of me wonders if I can leverage connections to save at least one of them from the scrap yard when inevitably removed...

For the first time in years I'm embarrassed to call myself a Nevadan. I just died a bit inside looking at that.

We were so focused on "don't California our Nevada" that we were taken totally off guard when they New Jerseyed it.

I can't think of any other sign in Nevada that would use that template.  It's almost as if they asked the intern for a state route shield and the kid didn't know what to do.

"I know, I'll call my buddy in Trenton."

"Dude, I need a state route shield.  Could you FedEx it to me, I need it by the day after tomorrow.  What's that?  Two-zero-seven.  Thanks dude, you're a lifesaver!"

New Jersey doesn't need to factor into it at all.  A circle is the default state route shield shape in the MUTCD.

Speaking of Nevada sign errors I noticed one on Kyle Canyon Road while starting out a loop of Mount Charleston.  For some reason the first shield on westbound NV 157 incorrectly displays "167."  The font is screwy and definitely isn't normal NDOT stock.

That's almost unrecognizable to me as SR 157. The last time I drove it (summer 2024, I think), it was still two lanes except around the US 95 interchange. I didn't realize that master-plan developments had made it to the north side of the highway...

The DDI caught me off guard.  It has been a long time since I was passing through Kyle Canyon.  The modern stuff falls off and becomes two lanes after a couple miles heading west.
