It's scary how much these dumb memes/internet culture is impacting people.
It's as if people aren't thinking.

And that's different than any other time in human history how? Likewise, memes have existed just as long as human culture has. We've appropriated the academic term to refer to pre-packaged cultural ideas easily spread on the Internet, but both the term and the things it refers to existed well before then.
Also, most (if not all) of these "______ challenges/games" are done by like 3 people and not the massive swathe of the population many would have you believe.

Heh. I think of those big detergent dispenser things as "detergent kegs." We sometimes buy those at BJ's, though we then pour the detergent into a smaller and more manageable bottle that's easier to use when doing the laundry.
"You know, you never have a guaranteed spot until you have a spot guaranteed."
—Olaf Kolzig, as quoted in the Washington Times on March 28, 2003,
commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
—Kolzig, to the same reporter a few seconds later.
