It most certainly does not.
Agreed.  From this Pacer fan, the Thunder still won the title, but one can only speculate what the game would have ended up with the Pacers point guard in the entire game.  Injuries occur (previous thoughts on Kevin Durant are appropriate here, as well as Klay Thompson).

The sale of the two Minnesota teams (Timberwolves and Lynx) has been finalized, with Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez taking over from Glen Taylor:

VCU had two former players selected in the same draft for the first time since 1985, and for the first time ever in the draft's current format - Jamir Watkins went #43 to the Wizards while Max Shulga went #57 to the Celtics. (Watkins most recently played at Florida State but began his career at VCU.)

With Paige Bueckers already starting out with the Wings (and she's doing great so far), the attention will soon focus on Cooper Flagg, the Mavericks' Number 1 overall pick. It's already shaping up to be a fun new era in Dallas, after the momentary hiccup that was the Luka Doncic trade to the Lakers in February.

Hiccup?  More like illogical fuck up of a trade.

Honestly, the Luka thing turned out very well for the Mavs. They don't have to shell out for his extension and get to reset with one of the bigger stars to come up in quite a while. Knowing what they know now, they DEFINITELY would have done the exact same thing.

Or they could have just moved Copper Flagg to small forward.  It wasn't like they weren't far removed from a finals run with Luka.  I don't tend to think the world of Anthony Davis and he's definitely showing signs of decline due to his age.

They're making the playoffs and out of the draft lottery with Luka.

And one year removed from a finals run with him.  But that's fine, they handed the Lakers their next franchise guy for basically nothing and got luck in the draft lottery.

This season for the Thunder was one of the best I've ever seen for an NBA team. They showed an incredible amount of toughness, skill, poise, and humility.

The new NBA season is now just five days away.  On Tuesday night, the Oklahoma City Thunder begin their title defense.

I'm going to make a pretty bold prediction here:  Jimmy Butler, a Houston-area native, will be the first ever Texas-born MVP in NBA history.

I'm also going to predict the Denver Nuggets will beat the New York Knicks in the 2026 NBA Finals next spring, and Nikola Jokic will win his second Bill Russell Trophy (Finals MVP).  I can't see the Joker being held to just a single championship; as legendary as his game is, he will retire with multiple rings in my opinion.

Another prediction:  My Houston Rockets will make at least the second round of the playoffs, joining the Warriors, Nuggets, and Thunder in the second round.  I don't see Kevin Durant hanging around in Houston after next season; I think he'll likely bolt to another team as this is his final year before he becomes a free agent.

Which is also the night the NBA on NBC makes its return! While it really sucks that TNT no longer has any NBA coverage, I guess bringing back an old favorite is worth the price. ESPN/ABC is also back and will inherit the Inside the NBA show from Turner, but will it be the same, or is the Mouse going to ruin it like they do everything else?

I wasn't around for roundball rock back in the day, but hearing it it's up there with the CBS college football and basketball themes plus ESPN's monday night football theme for top sports music themes.

Also of note is that Michael Jordan will be a special contributor to the NBA on NBC. Seems appropriate, since his glory days coincided with Marv Albert, Bob Costas, and company.

Tomorrow it starts again, Washington opens up at the Bucks on Wednesday night.

Since when do the Bucks open the season at home?

Bring on Roundball Rock tomorrow night! I know millions more will be watching as opposed to ESPN's own opener later on this week, especially since the cord-cutters won't have to miss tuning in to TNT anymore.
