That exit (before open road tolling) is where I was dropped off when I hitched my first ride on a long-distance trip.  I stood at the toll booth on the on-ramp from Roosevelt to SB I-355 with a sign that said "55 South / Will pay tolls".  The driver took me to Boughton Road.  It was a crappy place to get another ride, so I walked in the rain from there to the on-ramp from Bolingbrook Road to SB I-55.  For part of the time, I went into the trucker's lounge at the truck stop, but no drivers were heading my way.  I got sick of waiting in the rain for a ride, so I ended up taking Pace bus to Joliet and getting Greyhound from there.  Pretty much a failure of a hitchhiking trip but, now that I know what I know, I probably would have ended up stuck somewhere in the Saint Louis metro.
