My most recent trip into Minnesota from Iowa went north from St. Ansgar on US 218 into Lyle, MN. Going back into Iowa involved driving Main St. in Emmons, MN from US 69 to the road on the border, east on the border road for a block, then south on Worth County road S10 from Emmons.

To finally answer this 5-month-old question in two words: cashless tolls.

Anyway, my recent trip to Chicagoland and back included the following state line crossings:

CT/NY: I-84
NY/PA: I-84 (gasbuddy said it was the same price on either side of the highway that day, so no NJ this trip)
PA/OH: PA318/OH304
OH/IN: OH249/CR40
IN/IL: US30
IL/IN: CH53/18000E/W100N in Kankakee & Newton Counties
IN/OH: Railroad St./OH613
OH/PA: OH84/PA226
PA/NY: I-86
NY/CT: State Line Rd. just north of US44

What's the problem there?

I have many reasons for disliking cashless tolls, but I hesitate to go into too much detail in this thread.  The short version is that I don't like the invasion of my privacy or the extra effort to pay by mail.  We in CT pushed back hard several years ago when our governor tried to put gantries on most major highways in the state.  I was able to voice my opinion here, but outside of my state, the only way I can show my disapproval is to never use the cashless tolls.
