I suppose there's a few more with higher birth rates.

A minor thing that bothers me is missing context.  Is this an extension of what you were saying in the NHL thread or something else?

Both. Y'all need to let other countries exist sometimes, it would be great.

Mexico comes to mind as being higher on the birthrate scale.  Apparently, the birthrate is 15.19 per 1,000 in Mexico versus 10.55 for the U.S.  9.00 is surprisingly low with Canada.

Y'all?  All this over the Canadians losing a semifinal series that they were getting blown out in?  What is the "other" in "both?"

Speaking for myself, I think that I talk about and visit Mexico more than any other poster on the forum besides Kyle.  Jayhawkco is talking a lot of about international travel in areas I've never even considered visiting.  Off forum there is a bunch of hobby regulars who have been in Europe recently.

Given that America is in fact the only country in the world, I'm not sure what we're arguing about.

Right now? The USPS.

So later this year, the very well-liked and very reliable postal carrier for my neighborhood is going to be retiring. As such, now was the perfect time for the USPS to reassign him to a different route. Unfortunately, none of the other postal carriers at the local post office branch have bid to take-over his old route, so they've seemingly temporarily assigned someone to do it as they can. Unsurprisingly, this has lead to issues with people not getting their mail delivered or picked-up for the past week or so. Apparently some neighbors have reported their mail being picked-up/delivered only a couple of times this past week, rather than every day (except Sundays) like it's supposed to. Unfortunately, this is especially annoying for me at the moment, as I'm currently waiting on a new camcorder that I had order that the USPS is supposed to deliver. :banghead:

The good news is my camera finally got delivered this afternoon! Along with the mail we hadn't gotten yet being delivered this morning.

Considering all the crazy delays and other shenanigans I've experienced with FedEx in the past, I've got to say that USPS only delivering a couple of times per week still doesn't seem all that bad.

I really don't enjoy talking to people on the phone in general.

One of Carrie's sisters, who lives in Missouri, recently wrecked her car in the rain and broke her back.  We found this out from their mom, who told us that it was the L7 vertebra and that she's supposed to visit with a neurosurgeon (which isn't going to happen because she doesn't have health insurance and the hospital refuses to even give her a ballpark figure for how much it would be out of pocket).

Carrie and I didn't realize that neurosurgeons were involved in this sort of thing, so we were googling about neurosurgeon follow-up after an L7 injury.  Google A.I. told us all about why such a follow-up appointment might be necessary after an L7 injury, and how recovery can take several weeks, but many people do end up recovering pretty well, and all that jazz.  And then, after doing some more poking around on Google, we learned that humans DON'T EVEN HAVE AN L7 VERTERBA.  They typically have five lumbar vertebrae, with a few people having a sixth.  Cats have seven.  But we weren't asking about cats.  So we reached out to her sister to confirm which vertebra it was that she'd injured.  And she said it was the L7.

So, at this point, there are two things that bother us:

1.  Even though there's no such thing as an L7 vertebra in humans, Google A.I. was still perfectly happy to tell us all about the prognosis for injuring one.  Complete bullshit, it turns out, but, of course, in A.I. world, having an answer is more important than being accurate.

2.  It doesn't feel appropriate to reach back out again and tell her she's wrong about which vertebra she injured.  That kind of sounds like we'd be calling her stupid or something.  Or, for all we know, the doctor really did tell her it was the L7, who knows?

What we did instead was pass the info along to their mom, and joke that maybe she had gone to see a veterinarian instead of a 'people doctor'.  Ha ha.  But, you know, what else are we going to say?
