Unless I missed it scanning this thread, no one seems to have mentioned two pretty unique ones.

Vinita, OK - It went over the top of I-44

Still does, unless something changed and Google hasn't been updated. (I think it closed temporarily for remodeling, maybe that's why you think it's a former restaurant?

One that does belong on this list is the one in Wellston, which featured a unique setup where the westbound turnpike onramp from OK-66 went through the parking lot. So you would essentially pay a toll to get into the parking lot, and then get onto I-44 from there. That location has been demolished, though.

San Francisco has had a few spots that were once McDonald's, with closures accelerating after around 2015.

pre-2015, here are two locations that I have seen photos of online but have since long become other things:

- 1114 Market Street (at 7th), in the gritty Mid-Market area (three blocks away from Twitter headquarters).  Saw a photo of it on FB as a McDonald's, but I remember it more as Donut World which also now is closed.

Haight Street near Golden Gate Park, closed in 2018 after years of complaints about crime.  Mansard-roofed location.  Demolished to make way for new construction

Standard Oil/Chevron Building on Market Street, closed around 2018.  Had really cool Chevron memorabilia inside and a mural from 1996 depicting a Chevron/McDonald's combo with Arch Deluxes on the menu.  A view from 2014 of when it was active:

The Google Car has been by so many of those 8 million times. I realize Google's HQ is there and it's easy to test new cameras there, but places like Appalachia are lucky to get taken once a decade while the same old stuff gets it 3X a year elsewhere.

Where that pond is used to be a McDonald's. It got town down when they moved their corporate office from the building on the right to downtown Chicago.

RIP McDonald's Plaza/Oak Brook HQ. My Dad worked for McDonald's Corporate in the 90s - I spent a scary part of my childhood either in that specific McDonald's, the one inside the old HQ, and at Lake Ed/Lake Fred

As I recall, this was the old HQ, which had a McDonald's restaurant inside.  This is what it looks like now.

I don't remember the one at 22nd & Spring Road, which was demolished when HQ moved.  Does anyone know when it opened?

It wasn't easy for me at first that it had been a McDonalds.  Normally I see these buildings and know what they were before (ie Pizza Hut, KFC, Dairy Queen).

That's a fair point but it's relative. My local BK was still offering 99¢ Whoppers for most of my college years. I got my worst sticker shock probably in 1989 at a Whataburger being asked to pay more than $6 for a combo.

Anyone know if this place on US-30 in Everett, PA was a McD's at one time?  I first noticed it when taking 30 west from Breezewood in lieu of the Turnpike, and thought the architecture looked sort of familiar.

There are quite a few former McDonald's locations in New York. Some of the more interesting ones:

Whitehall, NY. Closed in 2015, sat vacant for 4 years until being repurposed as a butcher shop.
Cheektowaga, NY. Officially relocated a few miles away. This was an interesting one, because it had a unique playplace while it was open.
Old Forge, NY. Closed after the 2006 season. I specify "season" because this was a seasonal location that was only open for half of the year. There were only a small handful of seasonal locations in the country, with New York being able to claim 2.
Canton, NY. Closed in 2015, may still be vacant. This location was one of the rare remaining standalones with no drive thru.

Until last year, there was a closed McDonald's standing in Lake George. This location was notable for being seasonal and thus closed 6-7 months of the year. It was also one of the few (if only) standalone locations with a drive thru but no dedicated parking.

Now Jreck Subs, IIRC. Canton NY had theirs remodel in 2021.

I've never seen a McDonald's close in my area. I've seen Burger Kings close. I saw all the Pizza Huts close. I saw the Ground Rounds close. But no golden arches.

I mentioned the one across from ESPN.  Also saw another one on US 6 out in Scituate, RI that I used to stop at that was torn down between 2015 and 2016 (according to GSV) and has not been replaced.

Before move, this one was located on Eagle School Road, about a mile from the new one.
After move, this one is now obviously a Dollar Tree, about a year before demolition.
Demoed, when Dollar Tree bought out the old McDonald's.
After demo, now as a Dollar Tree.
New location, built in 2015.

Fayetteville NC on the bragg has a former one as well, and the irony is that the FIRST golden corral opened next door, alongside with a Wendy's, IHOP, Roy Rogers, and Hardees, all on the same street!
