If I'm not mistaken that would have been the timeframe during which the spat between Voyager and Alex got in a spat, the forum was deleted for a while, Alex had to appoint an entirely new mod staff (which is how I got involved), etc.

It's perfectly possible to hitch a ride on the back of someone's motorcycle.  But you've replaced the 'hiking' part of the compound with 'biking', so that implies you yourself are biking while hitching rides—perhaps by hanging onto the tailgate of a passing pickup truck.

I just did that today at Lone Mountain. (Texting my wife, who was hanging out at the adjoining dog park, to complain about part of the trail being uphill and having nowhere convenient to sit.)

Are you used to trails that are all downhill?

Yeah, it was a very different time back then.  It still had the roots of what it would become, however.  Just grab the earliest snapshot on archive.org for aaroads.com/forum to get a peek, though sadly not too much of it is indexed, and Voyager placed a registration block on it shortly thereafter, so there's only a brief peek of what the forum was like before it was resurrected under Alex.

I'm not used to trails at all! But aside from that, Lone Mountain is...well, an actual mountain (one small enough to fit in a city park, but a real mountain nonetheless), so for someone who grew up in the Plains it's kind of hard to judge what the slope of the ground at the base of the mountain is doing from far away, since the eye is drawn to the mountain itself. That and the side with the uphill section was on the other side of the mountain from where we parked, so it was kind of a situation where I'd walked a good mile or so already on flat-ish ground and rounded the corner to find an unexpected incline.

Plus, there had had been fairly consistent places along the route where someone (Clark County, I assume, but parkgoers had clearly moved some smaller rocks around so I guess it could have been something someone took it upon themselves to do) had placed several large rocks next to the trail to provide a place to sit, so I was kind of expecting that to continue... But for some reason along that entire stretch, there weren't any.

Now I'm tempted to go back and do it again but go counter-clockwise so I can see where the heck the corresponding downhill to that uphill was. Because I don't remember walking downhill at any point!

It's uphill both ways, like the route our grandparents walked to school.

In some stores, $14.  In others, either $1 or $14 depending on what else you have in your order.

In the Right-to-Repair League, some machines have an Earned Re-dispensing Average of 1.20 and below. Gotta be careful if it throws a slider, that could be an injured list problem for the catcher/cashier.
