For me, the highest one I can think of is Texas FM-2397.

I remember you saying you went to Galveston several years back. If you've been on Seawall Blvd west of Spur 342/61st St, then you have been on FM 3005.

Highest numbered route I've been on overall is FM 4000 in Mount Pleasant, TX. This is also the highest numbered route in the entire state, and I'd have to drive a 6000 series route in Kentucky or a secondary route in Virginia to beat that, or NM 6563 or FL 9336.

Since most states don't have that many state highways, here's a breakdown by each state I've been to. Bold means highest numbered route in that state.

Madison County, AR uses exclusively four digit county road numbers and signs them in the 7000s and 8000s north of US 412. A couple other counties in Arkansas also exclusively use four digit numbers (Johnson, Newton, and Marion). I probably drove on some of these county roads last time I was there but to be honest I don't remember what they were and I didn't really care enough to track them, plus a lot of them are otherwise minimum maintenance roads that are signed with a blue pentagon as a placeholder.

Oh, shoot, yes!  We stayed clear down at the other end of the island, too, so I've driven twenty miles' worth of FM-3005.

A-a-a-a-a-and . . . now I'm kind of ticked that I didn't clinch those last two miles.

My clinched list includes L17564 in Ireland. What have y'all been on? (I know QC has some nice high numbers, if you can figure out which ones apply.)

I'm pretty sure that it's TX-RM-2244 near Austin. I may have been on some road in Virginia that has an inventory number that is higher. Of course, there's probably a street in a Salt Lake City suburb that has a higher number than either of these.

Highest 2 consecutive numbered routes: FM 3005 and LA 3006 (also clinched both routes)
Highest 3 consecutive numbered routes: Pasco (FL) CR 587, LA 588, and FL 589
Highest 3 not counting county routes: FL 580, FL 581, and FL 582
