If "you are what you eat" is true, does that make cannibalism the best diet?

Will eating broccoli put you in a vegetative state?

Probably wouldn't into too much trouble until you start consuming brains.  From there prions likely will get you sooner or later.

I haven't seen the new Squid Game season yet, but I'm hoping two of the games are APT and pickleball.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I regret never getting the chance to take pictures of the Robert Moses-style wooden parkway lights that used to exist along New York State Route 27A in Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park. I also think that when they replaced the wooden poles on the parkways with metal ones, they should've done the same with the ones on NY 27A.

This makes me think of that line the high school "health class" teachers used to use to scare kids with the thought of STDs and other such things: "When you have sex with a person, you're having sex with everyone with whom that person has had sex." So if you're a guy, and the girl is, shall we say, promiscuous, taken literally that saying would mean you were having sex with umpteen guys.
"You know, you never have a guaranteed spot until you have a spot guaranteed."
—Olaf Kolzig, as quoted in the Washington Times on March 28, 2003,
commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
—Kolzig, to the same reporter a few seconds later.

If you have sex, you will get pregnant, and die.

If you do touch each other, you will get chlamydia, and die.

Come to think of it, that's also the paradigm behind the Sabrina Carpenter song I mentioned earlier in the thread, too.

This week was one of only two this year where I averaged more than 7 hours of daily sleep.  I only had one week through the year where the average was slightly below 6 hours.

What in the world was this gooseneck trailer driver/vehicle hauler thinking?

I'm suspecting this is yet another "I-40 is still closed, find another route" driver that is being experienced in Gatlinberg, TN area. And, they are too cheap to get a GPS which has the road data that days that says that 40 foot trailers on that particular road is an extremely bad idea.

I'm trying to power through mandated HR leadership courses.  I'm always left with the impression that the people who put these courses together don't work or interact with actual people.  One of the quizzes recommends using sticky notes as a good organizational practice.  The video I'm on now is ranting about a scheduling a "thinking power hour."

Today the courses are basically along the lines of "how to talk to your employees."  These videos are laughably robotic.  I would be borderline offended if someone tried to hold conversations with me like this.

These courses cater to the absolute lowest common denominator.

For some context on my annual review there is a layup good score for "hours of self improvement."  I was at about 18 hours before yesterday and only need to get to 26 for the best possible rating.  The problem is that the self improvement courses I can use are largely pre-defined and are kind of crappy like what I'm describing.  The last two years I've gotten by on Naval Safety Institute 40 hour courses (more like 20 in reality) but nothing of the like was on offer this fiscal year.

Thank god we don't have anything like that. We just have mandatory training that gets assigned and if you don't do it, you're in eligible for raises/promotions.

Fortunately I only have 7 more years of this before I hit a maximized pension.  Outside of putting a spare camera system in my work truck for next Monday I don't have much else going on today.

I-55

There are two I-335's in neighboring states. Both are tolled for their entire length but do not accept E-ZPass. Both (will) begin at I-35 on the southern end, and both currently end at a milepost between 125-130. Both will end on the northern end at a road that is tolled, separated by jersey barrier, 75 mph, and starts with the number 4. Both of those roads have their eastern terminus at I-70. Neither I-335 was originally numbered as such from time of construction.

But they make you pay first to cover thet 0.9¢, right?   am constantly annoyed that the prices are not limited to three significant figures.

Well, it would be $0.009 per gallon. So if you buy 12 gallons, you'd owe slightly under eleven cents.
