I can't remember where we discussed special things that happened when you googled specific topics such as fonts, but add "67" to that list... I know it's an obnoxious meme, but if you google it, what happens next is interesting.

Quote from: JayhawkCO on December 17, 2025, 11:50:36 AMJust happened to look through my flight history and looks like I had previously flown on one of the planes that the hijackers took over on 9/11. Previously I had flown it from Denver to Dulles on October 16th, 1998. This is the one that ended up being Flight 93 and crashed in Shanksville, PA. Weird to think about.
I flew on the B-17 Nine-O-Nine (N93012) in 2015 when it visited a local airport.

On October 2, 2019, N93012 crashed at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, while attempting to return shortly after takeoff. The aircraft was destroyed in the crash, and seven of the thirteen people on board were killed.

I don't know for sure but it likely had the same pilot and copilot as my flight.

I flew on N909DL twice before it was crashed and written-off at La Guardia in 2015, but there were no fatalities.

Name dropping the forum owner and implying threats of administrative action against "eight certain users" certainly is an unusual angle to try.

Definitely not Midtown Manhattan, based on the design of the license plates, parking spaces, and signage seen on the right. I'd suggest somewhere in Europe, potentially specifically somewhere in the UK? Though the positioning of the cars seems to imply they drive on the right side of the road...
May or may not be batticorn.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

New topic; I can't believe how many photographs of US 19 between Capps, Florida and Monticello, Florida from May 2023 I still have yet to upload to Wikimedia Commons. Some of them are of sites that have been taken before, but I don't care.

My wife really likes the Fallout TV series.  I find that slightly odd since she wasn't even aware it was an RPG series nor has any idea about the massive amounts of background lore.

Every once in a while someone on social media will post a screenshot of the game map from one of them and I'll run through the same thought process of "Huh, that looks just like a map of Las Vegas. Wait, that is a map of Las Vegas. Wait, no it's not."

One thing I'll say that kind of disappoints me about the show is the lack of accuracy with highway stuff.  I-15 in particular was a significant plot element in several Fallout games.  The only highway sign I've seen in the show was a novelty US 66 sign in a promo.

Given that John Mulaney and Shane Gillis are in it, it's probably got an entire scene devoted to it.

I thought sunlight was good for plants.

It is, but most grasses are dormant at this time of year, and so are not using the sunlight anyhow. Also, downed leaves provide shelter and warmth to the sort of creatures that promote soil health. The leaves themselves, of course, biodegrade over time, which improves soil fertility. (Which is important, since the grass monoculture typical of suburban lawns tends to sap the soil of nutrients but not replenish them over time, which means you have to do even more work applying fertilizer, while the soil ends up becoming dense and hard, which means you have to aerate it—all of this can be done through natural processes instead, which leaving leaves in place promotes.)

All of the above is why I never bothered to do anything with the leaves when I lived in Oklahoma. When it was time for the first mowing of the spring, I just ran the mower over any leaves that were still around and they became part of the regular mulch.

Makes me wonder if this is why the town my parents live in stops collecting yard waste before the leaves are done falling.  Every year there are piles of leaves that sit by the side of the road all winter long waiting for them to resume collection in the spring.
